Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and empathy
- Perform interview-based assessments and focused physical evaluations (range of motion and muscle strength testing)
- Produce clear, timely medical documentation, reports, addendums and medical opinions
- Review and interpret diagnostics as required and incorporate findings into objective reports
- Adhere to non-treatment evaluation protocols — no prescribing or longitudinal care
- Complete required trainings and maintain required certifications and portal competency
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted medical license appropriate for the practice location
- Experience or comfort with interview-based medical evaluations and focused physical assessments
- Background in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or general medicine is welcome
- Experience with Compensation & Pension exams is preferred
- Ability to maintain a provider office within a 50-mile radius of the assigned city OR be located within 50 miles of a VES facility for per-diem coverage
- Willingness to complete required DMA certification and portal training (training required prior to work)
Education
- MD or DO preferred (providers with appropriate training and licensure in general medicine specialties encouraged to apply)
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical evaluation and physical assessment techniques, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Strong medical documentation and report-writing skills
- Ability to formulate objective medical opinions and addendums
- Comfort reading and incorporating diagnostic results into evaluations
- Excellent patient interview and communication skills, especially with Veteran populations
- Organizational skills to manage PRN scheduling and timely report submission
