Shift Type: PRN day shifts with flexible scheduling: half-day (approximately 4 hours) or full-day (approximately 8 hours) options. Juneau or Sitka: half-day once weekly (must be within 50-mile radius). Delta Junction: two days per week (can be within 75-mile radius). Primarily daytime assignments; schedule varies by local need.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams with professionalism and attention to detail
• Perform Separation Health Assessments and thorough interview-based evaluations
• Carry out focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Document findings clearly and promptly — complete reports and any required addendums
• Review diagnostics and provide concise, objective medical opinions when requested
• Communicate respectfully and compassionately with Veterans, ensuring a dignified exam experience
• Participate in required training and maintain credentialing to meet VES onboarding standards

Qualifications

• Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) — active state licensure or ability to obtain licensure in the state of practice
• Clinical background in general medicine (family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or similar)
• Comfortable conducting interview-based exams and performing basic physical assessments (ROM, muscle strength)
• Strong report-writing skills with attention to accuracy and timelines, including addendums
• Willingness to work PRN and to provide services either at a VES facility or in your own office within the required radius

Education

• Graduate-level preparation appropriate for an NP (e.g., MSN or DNP) — certification and licensure as a Nurse Practitioner

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments
• Skilled in interview techniques and focused musculoskeletal assessments (ROM and strength testing)
• Clear, concise clinical documentation and report completion
• Ability to read diagnostics and draft medical opinions
• Familiarity with portal workflows and DMA-related processes (training required)
