Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality occupational therapy interventions including morning ADLs and 1:1 treatment
- Facilitate group therapy sessions to support patient functional goals
- Document timely and accurately in the hospital EMR for current patient caseloads
- Provide patient and family education in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
- Meet clinical, departmental, and regulatory expectations including daily productivity standards
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and rehab colleagues to optimize patient outcomes
- Contribute to a positive work environment and participate in team problem-solving
Qualifications
- Graduate of an ACOTE-accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current Maryland Occupational Therapy licensure or eligibility
- Minimum one (1) year of hospital acute care experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or AHA
- Strong EMR documentation skills, preferably in a hospital-based system
- Experience running OT groups is a plus
- Excellent time management, flexibility, and communication skills
Education
- Degree from an ACOTE-accredited school (Occupational Therapy Assistant program)
Knowledge & Skills
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) assessment and intervention
- 1:1 treatment and group therapy facilitation
- Hospital acute care workflows and interdisciplinary communication
- EMR documentation best practices and timely charting
- Patient and family education techniques
- Familiarity with orthopedic, neurological, behavioral health, and critical care caseloads
- Understanding of productivity standards and billable units
