Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess mental health status and develop individualized care plans for adult psychiatric patients
• Administer medications safely and monitor therapeutic responses
• Provide crisis intervention and apply de-escalation techniques when needed
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record with clarity
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive behavioral health care
• Serve as charge nurse when required and support unit needs including floating

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure or eligibility to obtain RN licensure in Oklahoma
• Clinical experience in psychiatric nursing or behavioral health (adult focus preferred)
• Must be 21 years of age or older to apply
• Ability to pass OKDHS fingerprint background check (required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
• Strong clinical judgment, therapeutic communication skills, and teamwork mindset

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but ADN applicants with relevant psychiatric experience are welcome

Knowledge & Skills

• Psychiatric assessment and behavioral health treatment planning
• Medication administration and monitoring for psychiatric populations
• Crisis management and de-escalation skills
• Therapeutic communication and patient-centered care techniques
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to adapt to floating assignments and variable patient ratios
