Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ functional abilities and develop individualized occupational therapy plans
- Deliver purposeful therapeutic interventions to improve daily living skills and independence
- Document progress and clinical findings accurately and timely in the patient record
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy colleagues, and families to support care goals
- Provide patient and family education to promote safe transitions and discharge success
- Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to enhance function
- Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and quality improvement activities
Qualifications
- Current Texas Occupational Therapist license (OTR/L) or eligible to obtain one
- Entry-level to experienced clinicians welcome — enthusiasm and strong clinical judgment required
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable documenting in electronic health records and following facility protocols
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to partner with patients and staff
Education
- Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (entry-level OT degree)
- Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy program and eligibility for licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in OT assessments and treatment planning for adult/geriatric populations
- Experience with ADL/IADL retraining, adaptive equipment, and mobility interventions
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time effectively within a busy facility
- Solid documentation practices and familiarity with therapy outcome measurement
- Collaborative mindset and effective patient/family education techniques
