Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert labor & delivery nursing care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
- Monitor fetal status and maternal well-being using fetal heart monitoring and other assessment tools
- Perform neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn stabilization when required (NRP/STABLE principles)
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives and the care team to recommend changes to treatment plans and ensure safe outcomes
- Educate patients and families about the plan of care, labor, delivery and newborn care in an empathetic, clear manner
- Document care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EPIC experience preferred)
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and support a culture of safety and excellence
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN or MSN preferred
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado — or ability to obtain prior to start
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required (may be obtained upon hire)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) — Advanced Provider
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) Intermediate certification
- STABLE Learner certification
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a perinatal/L&D RN required
- Experience with EPIC and bilingual Spanish are a plus
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN/MSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong perinatal and labor & delivery clinical skills
- Proficiency in fetal heart monitoring and interpretation
- Neonatal resuscitation and newborn stabilization (NRP/STABLE)
- Patient education, clinical assessment and care planning
- Ability to work independently in a community hospital setting and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Time management, situational awareness and excellent communication skills
