Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor & delivery nursing care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
• Monitor fetal status and maternal well-being using fetal heart monitoring and other assessment tools
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn stabilization when required (NRP/STABLE principles)
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives and the care team to recommend changes to treatment plans and ensure safe outcomes
• Educate patients and families about the plan of care, labor, delivery and newborn care in an empathetic, clear manner
• Document care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EPIC experience preferred)
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and support a culture of safety and excellence

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN or MSN preferred
• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado — or ability to obtain prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required (may be obtained upon hire)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) — Advanced Provider
• Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) Intermediate certification
• STABLE Learner certification
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a perinatal/L&D RN required
• Experience with EPIC and bilingual Spanish are a plus

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN/MSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perinatal and labor & delivery clinical skills
• Proficiency in fetal heart monitoring and interpretation
• Neonatal resuscitation and newborn stabilization (NRP/STABLE)
• Patient education, clinical assessment and care planning
• Ability to work independently in a community hospital setting and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Time management, situational awareness and excellent communication skills
