Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care for adolescent patients
• Perform psychiatric assessments and monitor behavioral health status throughout the shift
• Implement individualized behavior management and safety plans to maintain a therapeutic environment
• Administer medications accurately and monitor for efficacy and side effects
• Use de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques to keep patients and staff safe
• Document care clearly and timely in the medical record to support continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including therapists, social workers, and case managers
• Step into charge nurse duties when required, leading and supporting the unit
• Float between units as needed to meet patient care demands and learn new clinical settings

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure or eligibility to obtain RN licensure in Oklahoma
• Experience in psychiatric nursing, specifically with adolescent and behavioral health populations
• Must be 21 years of age or older to qualify for this assignment
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and adapt to a dynamic clinical environment
• Willingness to float between units and take on charge responsibilities as needed
• Must pass OKDHS fingerprinting background check prior to start

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) with active RN licensure or eligibility

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong psychiatric assessment and clinical observation skills
• Crisis de-escalation and therapeutic communication with adolescents
• Medication administration knowledge, including psychotropic medications
• Ability to implement behavior management and safety protocols
• Excellent documentation and charting habits
• Teamwork, flexibility, and resilience working overnight shifts
• Comfort with floating to different units and adapting to new teams
