Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care to children and adolescents
- Perform thorough behavioral and psychiatric assessments and communicate findings clearly
- Administer medications safely and monitor therapeutic responses
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement treatment plans
- Lead and support the unit as charge nurse when required, ensuring continuity of care
- Implement de-escalation techniques and crisis interventions to maintain patient and staff safety
- Document patient care and progress accurately in the electronic medical record
- Engage with families and caregivers to educate, support, and coordinate care plans
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (RN) required
- Experience or comfort working in pediatric psychiatric and behavioral health settings
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Must be over 21 to apply
- OKDHS fingerprinting background check required and must be passed
- Charge nurse experience and float pool experience are a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong therapeutic communication and rapport-building with children and adolescents
- Experience with crisis intervention and behavioral de-escalation techniques
- Medication administration and psychiatric medication knowledge
- Familiarity with pediatric behavioral health assessments and treatment planning
- Accurate clinical documentation and use of electronic health records
- Teamwork and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
- Adaptability to varying patient ratios and unit needs
