Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality stepdown/PCU nursing care for surgical, medical and occasional neuro patients
- Manage complex lines and vascular access including PICC and central lines, A-lines, and dialysis fistula care
- Monitor cardiac status and assist with acquisition of 12-lead EKGs and advanced cardiac interventions as needed
- Titrate vasoactive drips safely and document changes in hemodynamic status
- Support airway management including CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy care
- Operate and troubleshoot bedside equipment such as IV/ PCA pumps, bladder scanners, wound VACs and oxygen delivery devices
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute patient-centered care plans
- Float between units as needed and adapt quickly to differing team workflows and patient populations
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Missouri or eligibility for state licensure (compact applicants considered)
- Experience in PCU/Stepdown or similar higher-acuity nursing environment with line and hemodynamic management
- Demonstrated comfort with vasoactive drip titration and cardiac monitoring
- Familiarity with IV insertion, PICC/central line management, A-line and dialysis fistula care
- Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to float between units and work night shifts reliably
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac monitoring and rhythm recognition
- Vasoactive medication titration and hemodynamic assessment
- IV/central/PICC line care and vascular access management
- Experience with PCA/epidural pumps, feeding tube and wound VAC management
- Airway support skills including CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy care
- Familiarity with bladder scanners, IV pumps, Optiflow, Vapotherm and Airvo devices
- Strong assessment, critical thinking and patient education skills
- Comfort working with surgical, medical and occasional neuro patients
