Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide immediate post-operative care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery — your vigilance helps patients transition safely
• Closely monitor vital signs and recognize early signs of complications to intervene quickly
• Manage pain, nausea, and other post-op symptoms using evidence-based interventions
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document changes in condition clearly and promptly
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and safety at home
• Coordinate care and communicate effectively with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure seamless handoffs
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record (MediTech training provided)
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support quality improvement and positive patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (appropriate state licensure or compact licensure as required)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in PACU or relevant specialty
• Minimum 1 year of travel nurse experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Comfortable with post-operative patient assessment, monitoring, and pain management
• Willingness to train on MediTech (training will be provided)

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-operative care and PACU nursing best practices
• Vital signs monitoring and early recognition of complications
• Pain management strategies and antiemetic use
• Patient and family education with clear, compassionate communication
• Coordination and effective handoffs with surgical and anesthesia teams
• Documentation in electronic health records (EHR) — MediTech training available
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced recovery room environment
