Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adolescent through adult patients in a correctional facility under RN/physician supervision
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
• Triage and assess inmates' health needs, escalating to RNs or physicians as appropriate
• Maintain safety and security while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
• Follow established protocols and uphold the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of the system
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and continuity
• Perform thorough, timely charting and ensure compliance with correctional healthcare regulations

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Ohio (STATE OF OHIO LICENSE ONLY)
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Preferred: Minimum one year of clinical nursing experience
• Comfortable and experienced working in a correctional healthcare setting or similar environment
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods and assist with lifting (250–300 lbs with assistance) and push/pull tasks up to 500 lbs with assistance
• Willingness to work night shifts, every other weekend, and rotating holidays

Education

• Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing (LPN) program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medication administration and documentation skills
• Clinical assessment and triage abilities for adolescent to adult populations
• Familiarity with correctional healthcare workflows and safety protocols
• Clear, calm communication and de-escalation techniques
• Ability to work collaboratively with RNs, physicians, and security staff
• Good time management and the ability to prioritize under pressure
• Infection control, emergency response, and basic wound care knowledge
