Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled physical therapy interventions under the direction of a licensed PT to help patients regain mobility and independence
- Assist with patient evaluations, implement treatment plans, and document measurable progress
- Deliver therapeutic exercise, gait training, modalities, and functional task practice with safety and professionalism
- Educate patients and families on home programs, fall prevention, and functional strategies to support recovery
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient-centered care and improve outcomes
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the facility EMR and adhere to facility policies and compliance standards
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted PTA license in Texas or eligibility to obtain state licensure
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or obtained promptly upon hire
- Comfortable working in an outpatient/rehab setting and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Professional communication skills and a patient-centered approach
Education
- Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic exercise, modalities, and gait training techniques
- Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
- Ability to set priorities, manage caseloads, and adapt treatment plans
- Good interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration
- Understanding of infection control, safety protocols, and quality improvement practices
