Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate medical-surgical nursing care during night shifts to adults and older adults
• Monitor telemetry and cardiac rhythms, taking timely, appropriate action when needed
• Assess patients frequently, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns to the care team
• Administer medications and IV therapies accurately and document in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, discharge plans, and follow-up
• Contribute to unit quality improvement, safety initiatives, and evidence-based practice

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be current and in good standing)
• Minimum previous Medical-Surgical nursing experience only — this role requires med-surg background
• Current ACLS certification required
• Current BLS/BCLS certification required
• Flu vaccine is mandated by the State of Maine
• Telemetry experience preferred
• Comfort and competence working night shifts and covering every other weekend

• Strong med-surg assessment skills and clinical judgment
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills
• Proficient medication administration and IV therapy management
• Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
• Accurate electronic charting and documentation
• Teamwork, time management, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
