Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-informed psychiatric nursing care to adult and adolescent inpatients
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu grounded in trauma-informed recovery principles
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and document individualized treatment plans
• Assess and manage psychiatric and co-occurring substance use needs using critical thinking and therapeutic communication
• Lead and coordinate care during your shift when assigned as charge nurse
• Implement crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies to ensure patient and staff safety
• Use the Electronic Medical Record to document care, communicate with the team, and track progress toward goals
• Coach and mentor peers, participate in team-building, and contribute to a positive workplace culture

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the State of Massachusetts required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of adult and adolescent inpatient psychiatric nursing experience required
• Willingness to float between units and assume charge nurse responsibilities
• CPR certification required
• Experience with restraint reduction/de-escalation and crisis intervention preferred
• Experience with inpatient substance use treatment preferred
• Comfortable using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

Education

• RN license in Massachusetts (required)
• BSN preferred

• Strong knowledge of behavioral health and substance abuse treatment modalities
• Practice informed by a Trauma Informed Recovery model
• Crisis management and effective de-escalation skills
• Excellent clinical judgment and critical thinking
• Clear oral and written communication and documentation skills
• Time management, delegation, coaching, and team-building abilities
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries while building therapeutic relationships
