Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases
- Serve as the patient's advocate during the surgical experience, ensuring safety and dignity
- Direct and supervise any assigned personnel while coordinating care with the surgical team
- Utilize the nursing process and established standards of care to deliver consistent outcomes
- Collaborate closely with the Unit Nurse Manager, House Supervisor, and RN Team Leader to support unit operations
- Adhere to policies and procedures while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon or eligibility to obtain state licensure
- Perioperative nursing experience or demonstrated competence as an RN Circulator
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; perioperative certifications preferred
- Comfort supervising assigned staff and communicating with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to follow policy and procedure and act as a strong patient advocate
- Professional, reliable, and able to work flexible day shift assignments
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) — nursing degree required
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing knowledge including preop, intraop, and postop workflows
- Surgical patient care and instrumentation awareness
- Strong patient advocacy and clinical assessment skills
- Familiarity with nursing process, documentation, and standards of care
- Effective communication and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and unit leadership
- Ability to supervise personnel and support unit flow
