Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and provide evidence-based treatment plans
- Deliver individual, group, and family therapy focused on rehabilitation and behavioral health
- Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments when needed to keep patients and staff safe
- Document clinical encounters thoroughly and maintain timely, accurate records
- Collaborate with custody staff, medical providers, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Develop and implement treatment goals that promote mental wellness and reduce recidivism
- Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Licensed Psychologist (PSYL) OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) — active California license required
- Eligibility for work at correctional facility (willingness to complete background/security clearance)
- Experience in mental health settings; corrections experience is highly desirable
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and therapeutic skills
- Ability to work Monday-Friday daytime schedule reliably
Education
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (for Psychologist) OR Master's degree in Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field (for LMFT/LPCC)
Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough knowledge of mental health assessment and diagnostic formulation
- Skilled in evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed approaches)
- Comfortable delivering individual and group therapy in a correctional environment
- Strong crisis intervention and suicide/risk assessment skills
- Excellent written documentation and electronic health record familiarity
- Collaborative communication skills with clinical and custody teams
