Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient nutritional needs and develop individualized medical nutrition therapy plans
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care
• Document nutrition assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EHR
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans based on clinical data and goals
• Review and provide guidance on therapeutic menus and mealtime management
• Provide clear, compassionate nutrition education to patients and facility staff
• Ensure compliance with facility, CDCR, and regulatory nutrition standards

Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required and active in good standing
• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field required; Master's preferred
• Prefer experience with CDCR/correctional healthcare environments
• Prefer experience using Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
• Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility security requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field required
• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical nutrition assessment and medical nutrition therapy
• Familiarity with correctional healthcare policies and CDCR practices
• Experience documenting in Cerner or comparable EHR systems
• Ability to develop therapeutic menus and manage feeding protocols
• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education skills
• Attention to detail for regulatory compliance and accurate charting
