Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM (Day shift). Option to pick up 10-hour weekend split schedules for PT travelers as available (W-S or Sun-W).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess adult and pediatric patients and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
• Deliver inpatient acute care and outpatient therapy with a focus on orthopedic, neurological and pulmonary diagnoses
• Support early mobility and ventilator-associated mobility programs to improve patient outcomes
• Document care thoroughly and accurately in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, OT, ST and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Provide hands-on treatment including wound care, gait training, therapeutic exercise and functional mobility training
• Assist with outpatient hand therapy and pediatric cases when appropriate
• Cover floating assignments across inpatient, outpatient and home health settings as needed

Qualifications

• Current California Physical Therapy license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist, ideally with inpatient acute care experience
• Experience using Cerner EMR strongly preferred
• Comfort working with telemetry patients and basic ventilator early mobility
• NIH Stroke Scale certification, Vital Stim, or specialty certifications are a plus
• Ability to float between inpatient, outpatient and home health settings
• Strong communication, teamwork and documentation skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Cerner charting and electronic documentation
• Skilled in inpatient acute care and outpatient therapy techniques
• Knowledge of telemetry monitoring and ventilator early mobility protocols
• Experience with wound care, orthopedics, neurology and pulmonary rehabilitation
• Competence treating pediatric through geriatric populations
• Familiarity with hand therapy and early mobility program practices
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and collaborate within a busy hospital setting

This is a travel contract with excellent weekend get-away options. Merced is about 1 hour from Yosemite National Park for hiking, waterfalls and big granite views. A two hour drive lands you at Monterey Bay for beaches, marine life and coastal dining, and San Francisco is about two hours away for urban exploration, museums and iconic sights. The Sierra Nevada range is close for skiing and mountain trails. Locally enjoy community events, regional farms and easy access to state parks—plenty to do when you are off shift.
