Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Perform NIHSS assessments quickly and accurately for neurologic monitoring
• Deliver advanced life support when needed, using BLS and ACLS protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Document patient care and assessments clearly and promptly in the medical record
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and maintain required competencies
• Support bedside teamwork by mentoring floats and contributing to a positive unit culture

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license (able to practice in Michigan)
• NIHSS certification required as stated in the order
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Experience or comfort working on a medical-surgical unit and floating between areas
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing as required
• Up-to-date immunizations and occupational health requirements including Fit Test, 2-step PPD or IGRA, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, and annual influenza
• Successful completion of Trinity 10 panel drug screen and any required health paperwork

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and prioritization skills for medical-surgical patients
• Proficiency with NIHSS stroke scale and neurologic monitoring
• Skilled in emergency response and ACLS/BLS protocols
• Competent documentation and electronic charting practices
• Ability to adapt and float to different unit needs while maintaining standards
• Infection control awareness and compliance with occupational health requirements
