Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform initial triage and full assessments for urgent care patients of all ages, prioritizing needs and patient flow
• Provide telephone triage, offer self-care guidance, and triage appropriate care options
• Administer medications via oral, topical, IM, SQ, intradermal and IV push/infusion and initiate/maintain IV therapy
• Document assessments, interventions, education and patient responses accurately in the EMR
• Coordinate patient referrals within SEARHC and to outside facilities, tracking outcomes and providing status updates
• Maintain a clean, safe clinic environment and ensure supplies and equipment are stocked and functional
• Participate in department improvement efforts, team training, and cross-coverage to meet clinic needs
• Respond to emergency situations and perform life saving procedures when required
• Serve as or support vaccine coordination efforts as needed

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state required
• Direct hire applicants must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before the start date; agency staff must have an active Alaska license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years general nursing experience with at least 1 year in ambulatory or urgent care settings
• Clinical Competency to be achieved within 3 months of hire and maintained every three years
• High Risk Competency to be achieved within 3 months of hire and annually

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• High school diploma or equivalent
