Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and Night 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM. Schedule includes every other weekend and every third holiday; primarily 12-hour night rotations available with opportunities for day shifts.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor adult and geriatric PCU patients, responding quickly to changes in condition
• Administer medications, including titratable drips such as Cardizem and beta blockers, safely and accurately
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document care precisely in EPIC
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care for cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and seizure patients
• Provide compassionate patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Support unit workflow as a dependable team member, including floating to medical floors, ICU, or rehab as needed
• Participate in orientation learning and successfully complete the open-book skills exam to demonstrate competency

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required for submission
• Valid driver’s license required at submittal to confirm radius eligibility
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; prior stepdown/PCU experience strongly preferred
• Experience with IV drip titration and managing common titratable infusions
• Proficient with EPIC documentation and electronic charting
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and meeting weekend/holiday schedule requirements
• Ability to pass orientation requirements, including the open-book skills exam with a 90% score

Education

• Active RN license required. BSN is not required for this role.

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication administration and IV drip titration
• Patient monitoring and acute/stepdown care
• Cardiac, nephrology, and stroke patient management
• Continuous EEG monitoring familiarity
• Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment
• Effective communication and patient assessment skills
• Ability to float to medical units, ICU, or rehab when needed
• Competence using EPIC for documentation and charting
