Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care on a Progressive Care Unit for a diverse population
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and perform precise EKG-related tasks (must pass EKG exam)
• Administer medications and implement ACLS/BLS protocols when clinically indicated
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with physicians, RRTs, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Float within scope to similar units as needed to meet facility demands
• Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license appropriate for practice in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred; first-time travel nurses are welcome
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
• Must pass the facility EKG exam — no exceptions
• Experience with telemetry/PCU care and a comfort with higher acuity patients
• Familiarity with Epic charting strongly preferred
• Willingness to work night shifts and follow the every-other-weekend requirement

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patient management and telemetry monitoring
• Accurate EKG rhythm recognition and interpretation
• Proficient Epic documentation and electronic charting workflow
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced trauma/teaching hospital
• Ability to adapt and float between like units when needed
