Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert cardiac and telemetry nursing care to high-acuity PCU patients
• Manage complex drips and infusion therapies safely, including heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone and more
• Monitor telemetry, interpret rhythms, and intervene promptly to maintain patient stability
• Perform and assist with unit procedures such as chest tube care, pacer wire removal and 12-lead EKGs
• Document care accurately using Meditech and coordinate transitions of care
• Collaborate with physicians, PCTs and interdisciplinary team members to deliver exceptional patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and post-discharge care plans
• Participate in unit safety and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state requirements apply)
• Minimum 2 years of PCU, cardiac or telemetry nursing experience
• ACLS certification (required)
• Experience with drip management and cardiac medications (heparin, Tikosyn, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, Lasix, ketamine)
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and high-acuity cardiac patients
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar EMR highly desirable
• Strong teamwork, communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced cardiac unit

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required (degree not specified in posting)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry rhythm interpretation and cardiac monitoring proficiency
• Drip and infusion management, rate titration and bedside pump operation
• Hands-on skills: chest tube care, trach care, pacer wire removal, 12-lead EKGs
• Experience with respiratory support devices: BiPAP, CPAP and heated high-flow
• Competence with feeding pumps, suction, IV pumps, foley care and SCD pumps
• Ability to use Meditech EMR for documentation and order reconciliation
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and patient education skills
