Roles & Responsibilities

• Start and manage IVs and peripheral lines safely and efficiently
• Administer medications with attention to safety and patient response
• Monitor vital signs and cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias and respond appropriately
• Provide patient education so patients and families understand treatments and self-care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to develop and update patient plans
• Document care accurately in EPIC EMR to support continuity and quality
• Float to lower-acuity units within the organization when needed and adapt to varying patient needs
• Participate in rapid response and code teams to support patient emergencies

Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience with strong acute care background
• BCLS/BLS certification required
• IV certification and demonstrated skill starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and chest tube care preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking abilities
• Willingness to float to other units within the OSU organization as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• IV therapy, peripheral line and PICC line care
• Medication administration and safe practice
• Vital signs monitoring and cardiac telemetry interpretation
• Chest tube management and oxygen administration
• Use of EPIC EMR for accurate charting
• Phlebotomy skills and infection/isolation precautions
• Rapid response/code team participation and emergency response
• Patient and family education, bedside procedures, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Adaptability to mixed med-surg PCU patient populations and varied acuity
