Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess pediatric patients before surgery to ensure safety and readiness
• Provide clear, compassionate education to children and their families about the pre-op process
• Administer and document pre-operative medications and interventions as ordered
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR staff to ensure smooth patient flow
• Perform accurate and timely documentation in the patient record
• Maintain a safe, child-friendly environment and uphold infection control standards
• Support patient transport to the operating room and handoff to the surgical team

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington (required)
• Pediatric nursing experience or comfort working with children preferred
• Pre-op/perioperative nursing experience a plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Strong communication skills for patient/family education and interdisciplinary teamwork
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and orientation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Required: Active Washington RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of pediatric vital signs, dosing, and developmental considerations
• Familiarity with pre-operative assessment and clearance processes
• Comfortable with medication administration and accurate documentation
• Team-oriented mindset and ability to coordinate across departments
• Basic EHR charting skills and attention to detail
