Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients
• Perform focused assessments and prepare patients and families for procedures
• Educate caregivers on pre-op instructions and post-op expectations
• Coordinate with surgical teams, anesthesia, and support staff for smooth patient flow
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient education accurately in the medical record
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligible to obtain licensure in Washington
• Experience or strong interest in pediatric pre-op nursing (previous pediatric experience preferred)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain during orientation)
• Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced pre-operative environment and collaborating with surgical teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric patient assessment and age-appropriate communication
• Familiarity with pre-operative protocols, triage, and patient preparation
• Skilled documentation in electronic medical records
• Basic medication administration and IV/venous access knowledge
• Strong teamwork, organization, and family-centered care approach
