Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care to pediatric patients with attention to safety and comfort
• Perform pre-op assessments and document patient status clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about pre-op expectations and procedures in an age-appropriate way
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative teams to ensure smooth patient flow
• Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies following aseptic technique and facility protocols
• Administer medications and monitor vital signs, reporting any concerns promptly
• Participate actively in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of care
• Contribute to a supportive, team-based environment focused on excellent patient and family experiences

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio (or compact license as applicable)
• Experience or clinical comfort with pediatric patients; pre-op pediatric experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Comfortable with medication administration, IV starts, and pediatric assessments
• Able to pass standard background checks, immunization requirements, and facility onboarding
• Willingness to attend orientation and engage in continuous learning

Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ASN/BSN) required

• Pre-operative assessment and preparation for pediatric patients
• Strong pediatric communication and family-centered care skills
• Medication administration and vital sign monitoring
• Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation accuracy
• Infection control and aseptic technique
• Interdisciplinary teamwork and care coordination
