Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia nursing care to pediatric patients in the PACU
• Monitor vital signs, manage pain control, and assess recovery progress after procedures
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and in accordance with orders
• Communicate clearly with families, surgeons and anesthesia teams about patient status
• Document patient care, assessments and handoffs accurately in the medical record
• Participate in orientation and unit-based education to maintain best practices

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Ohio) or compact RN license where applicable
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Experience or strong interest in PACU and pediatric post-anesthesia care
• Comfortable administering medications, IV management and monitoring post-op patients
• Team player with strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
• Able to complete required orientation and unit-specific competencies

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing diploma

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia assessment and recovery monitoring for pediatric patients
• Pain assessment and management, including age-appropriate interventions
• Familiarity with PACU workflows, handoffs and emergency response
• Proficient documentation in electronic health records and timely communication
• Ability to educate and support families during the immediate post-op period
