Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the operating room
• Prepare the OR and sterile field, ensuring all instruments and supplies are available for each case
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to optimize patient outcomes
• Monitor patients intraoperatively and communicate changes in condition promptly
• Educate and reassure patients and families with age-appropriate communication and empathy
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of pediatric OR care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or eligibility for state licensure
• Experience or training in Operating Room nursing, preferably with pediatric patients
• BLS certification required; PALS or pediatric life support certification preferred
• Strong infection control and sterile technique knowledge
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric perioperative care and age-appropriate patient handling
• Sterile technique, surgical instrumentation familiarity, and OR workflow
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and act proactively
• Effective patient/family communication and education
• Teamwork, adaptability, and situational awareness in the OR
