Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the operating room
• Prepare the OR and instruments, ensuring sterile technique and readiness for each case
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to coordinate patient care
• Monitor patients’ status throughout procedures and document accurately in the medical record
• Anticipate team needs and proactively assist with supplies, positioning, and equipment management
• Participate in orientation and training to maintain high standards of pediatric OR care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or compact RN eligible
• Operating Room (OR) experience with pediatric patients preferred
• Current BLS certification required; PALS and perioperative nursing certifications a plus
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced OR environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong clinical judgement, attention to detail, and commitment to patient safety
• Willingness to complete facility orientation prior to independent assignments

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and sterile technique expertise
• Pediatric patient care fundamentals and family-centered communication
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and intraoperative workflows
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) navigation
• Teamwork, clear communication, and the ability to prioritize under pressure
