Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the operating room
• Prepare operating rooms with sterile technique and ensure all necessary instruments and supplies are available
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team to support optimal patient outcomes
• Monitor and document patient status before, during, and after procedures with attention to detail
• Advocate for patients and families, delivering clear communication and education throughout the surgical experience
• Participate in orientation and training to maintain competency in pediatric OR practices

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of Ohio (or compact/multistate license as applicable)
• Operating room experience with pediatric patients preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Current clinical competence in sterile technique and perioperative nursing principles
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a patient-centered attitude

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of perioperative nursing standards and aseptic technique
• Familiarity with pediatric anatomy, physiology, and age-appropriate care
• Skill in patient assessment, documentation, and intraoperative monitoring
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and manage OR workflow efficiently
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary surgical environment
