Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess perioperative patients and develop/implement individualized nursing plans before, during, and after surgery
• Create and maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment using best practices in sterile technique
• Serve primarily as a circulating nurse while providing scrub support when needed
• Provide clear pre-operative and post-operative education to patients and families to improve outcomes
• Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being throughout the surgical continuum and escalate concerns promptly
• Document care and coordinate multidisciplinary communication using EPIC to ensure seamless handoffs
• Support high-volume operating room flow across a 14-room suite, including Labor & Delivery C-section coverage
• Participate in required onboarding training and maintain compliance with facility and state requirements

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current New York licensure and the New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency Registration (must be uploaded with application)
• Minimum 2+ years of current Operating Room nursing experience
• Strong experience in vascular surgery and orthopedic surgery; ortho trauma, general surgery, robotic, urology, and ENT experience required
• EPIC experience required for documentation and workflow
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Demonstrated scrub and circulating experience in the OR
• Ability to pass a negative 14-panel drug screen (as specified) and meet onboarding compliance within required timeframes
• Traveler must have own vehicle and permanent address that matches driver license/state ID
• One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years of employment, and current Nursys record

Education

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure — New York (Temporary Health Care Service Agency Registration required for travelers)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative patient assessment and care planning
• Sterile technique and infection control in surgical settings
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record workflows
• Strong clinical judgment in high-acuity surgical cases
• Excellent patient education and communication skills
• Ability to lift and assist up to 50 pounds when required
• Teamwork and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff
• Comfort working in a fast-paced OR with an average of 50 procedures per day
