Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a medical-surgical unit
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing interventions for assigned patients
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with policies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Document patient status, interventions and outcomes clearly and timely
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Contribute to unit quality improvement and maintain a safe clinical environment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Louisiana (or compact RN as applicable)
• Medical-surgical (Med/Surg) experience preferred
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS preferred or as required by unit
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen and required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy experience
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Patient education and discharge planning abilities
• Time management and prioritization for multiple patient assignments
• Teamwork and effective handoff communication
