Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care for laboring and postpartum patients
• Perform fetal monitoring and rapidly recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Start and maintain IVs, administer medications including magnesium sulfate and Pitocin, and manage infusion pumps
• Support cesarean cases by circulating in the OR and assisting with C-section recovery
• Deliver neonatal care in the delivery room, perform APGAR assessments and initial stabilization
• Perform intrauterine pressure catheter and spiral electrode placements as needed
• Provide lactation and breastfeeding support to postpartum patients
• Document patient care accurately and timely using Epic electronic charting
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, respiratory, PT and rapid response

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in Ohio) — current licensure required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
• Proven IV start skills and hands-on L&D experience
• Epic electronic charting experience required
• Comfortable with float assignments across units within the OSU organization
• AWHONN Advanced, NCC C-EFM or equivalent certifications are a plus
• Previous travel nurse experience preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred
• Current RN licensure (state-specific) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring skills (external and internal) and recognition of abnormal patterns
• Neonatal resuscitation and delivery room newborn care
• IV therapy, phlebotomy and infusion pump management
• Experience supporting cesarean sections and epidural care
• Postpartum assessment and management including hemorrhage and PIH care
• Familiarity with telemetry interpretation and emergency response
• Competence with Epic charting and documentation workflows
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient education skills
