Roles & Responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in the Intermediate Care Unit
• Provide clear, compassionate patient and family teaching to support recovery and self-care
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate excellent patient-centered care
• Respond quickly and effectively to patient crisis and emergency situations
• Use critical thinking to prioritize care and adapt to changing unit needs
• Maintain dependable attendance and professionalism while representing Bay Area Hospital

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Oregon
• American Heart Association BLS (required)
• ACLS required or must be obtained within the employer-specified grace period
• Minimum of 3 years nursing experience with 2-3 years preferred in critical care
• Recent (within 5 years) acute care hospital experience preferred
• Comfortable documenting in an electronic medical record and using common computer applications

Education

• Licensed Registered Nurse (Oregon)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required or to be obtained within employer timeframe

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of the nursing process and patient education techniques
• Proficient EMR documentation and computer skills including internet and word processing
• Effective interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication
• Critical thinking and problem-solving in fast-paced clinical environments
• Skilled in emergency and crisis response and bedside teaching
