Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality emergency nursing care to patients in the ED
• Perform rapid assessment, triage, and initiation of treatment for acute conditions
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and monitor patient status closely
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Louisiana or compact license eligibility
• Active BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Prior emergency department (ED/ER) nursing experience preferred
• Comfortable working 12.5-hour clinical shifts, including weekends and nights as scheduled
• Strong clinical judgment, the ability to triage quickly, and calm under pressure
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency assessment and triage skills
• Knowledge of acute care interventions and emergency protocols
• Proficiency with administering medications and IV therapy
• Ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize effectively
• Strong documentation practices and attention to detail
• Team collaboration and clear communication in high-acuity settings
