Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to geriatric residents
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility support
• Monitor resident well-being and report changes promptly to nursing staff
• Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with the care team
• Build rapport and offer emotional support to residents and their families
• Help maintain a clean, comfortable environment that promotes dignity and independence

Qualifications

• Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or equivalent credential (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass required health screenings
• Clear background check and any state-mandated workforce registry requirements
• Strong communication skills and a caring, patient approach
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related needs
• Skillful in safe resident handling and mobility assistance
• Basic clinical observation: recognizing changes in condition and reporting them
• Good documentation practices and familiarity with charting care activities
• Teamwork and effective communication with nurses, therapists, and family members
• Time management to balance resident needs during shift
