Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry tracings to detect rhythm changes and intervene quickly
• Assess patients’ cardiac and overall clinical status and communicate changes to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to provider orders and facility protocols
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and timely
• Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and ancillary staff to deliver coordinated care
• Provide patient and family education about cardiac rhythms, medications, and discharge planning
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; California RN license preferred
• Experience working on a telemetry unit or with cardiac monitoring preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced certifications such as ACLS encouraged
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently on per diem assignments and integrate quickly with unit teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Relevant specialty certifications (telemetry, ACLS) a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with cardiac telemetry monitors and rhythm interpretation
• Solid clinical assessment skills for cardiac and medically complex patients
• Accurate medication administration and IV therapy knowledge
• Effective electronic health record documentation
• Teamwork, adaptability, and clear communication under pressure
• Infection control practices and patient safety focus
