Shift Type: Night, 3x12-Hour (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) — Night shifts; weekends every other (6 weekend shifts per contract)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $62 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the emergency department as charge nurse during your shift — make decisive, patient-focused choices
- Triage and rapidly assess patients to ensure the sickest get care first
- Provide advanced critical care including ventilator management, intubation support, and arterial line/central line care
- Administer and monitor complex therapies: IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation/paralytics, and blood product administration
- Manage chest tubes, interpret ABGs, and handle acute dysrhythmias with confidence
- Supervise and mentor staff, delegate effectively, and maintain safe patient ratios (1:4)
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy and rapid response teams
- Document care accurately and support quality, safety, and throughput in a busy short-term acute care ED
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the practicing state (or compact/eligible) — ability to practice as an RN required
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience with emergency department exposure
- Previous charge nurse experience — required (able to function as charge with brief orientation)
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS required/preferred; NIHSS, PALS, TNCC are strongly preferred
- Comfort with pediatric and adult emergency presentations — experience across age groups a plus
- Ability to handle high-acuity cases (trauma, multisystem organ failure, CVA) and perform rapid decision-making
- Willingness to work night shifts and cover scheduled weekends per contract
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency department care and triage best practices
- Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and emergency response
- Intubation support and ventilator care
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Chest tube insertion/management and arterial/central line management
- IV therapy, starting/maintaining IVs, blood product administration
- Administration and monitoring of continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressors
- Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Trauma care and management of shock/critical injuries
- Pediatric emergency skills and familiarity with common pediatric emergencies
