Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist physicians in preparing and performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral catheterization procedures
• Set up procedure rooms and assist the RN to ensure safe, efficient delivery of care
• Operate fluoroscopy/X-ray equipment accurately and independently while ensuring radiation safety compliance
• Obtain hemostasis safely after procedures and assist with post-procedure room turnover following infection control protocols
• Accurately document procedures in the MacLab system and ensure consents and chart documentation are complete prior to procedure start
• Administer intra-coronary medications per Bayhealth and unit policies when appropriate
• Participate in professional growth activities and maintain required certifications

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences or graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program required
• RCIS required if graduate of a Cardiovascular Technology program; ARRT (RT) required if graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program (to be obtained within 4 months of hire if not already held)
• ACLS and BLS required (BLS to be obtained within 90 days if not already held)
• Required: Eighteen (18) months of diagnostic radiology experience OR completion of an accredited radiologic technology or cardiovascular technology program with program director and clinical site preceptor letters
• Preferred: Two years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab performing diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures; prior EP or interventional lab experience a plus

Education

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences OR Associate Degree/graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program (required)
• Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in cardiac catheterization and peripheral vascular procedures
• Skilled with fluoroscopy/X-ray operation and radiation safety practices
• Familiarity with MacLab procedure documentation and infection control practices
• Ability to prepare and monitor patients and obtain hemostasis following procedures
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced cath lab environment and supporting the multidisciplinary team
