Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough pre-operative assessments for pediatric patients to ensure safe, timely care
- Prepare patients and families for surgery through compassionate education and clear communication
- Coordinate with surgical and anesthesia teams to support efficient patient flow and room turnover
- Document assessments, interventions, and handoffs accurately and promptly
- Maintain a safe, child-friendly environment and uphold infection control standards
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Washington or eligibility to obtain one
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred
- BLS required; PALS preferred
- Current immunizations and ability to pass background and credentialing checks
- Willingness to work focused 4-hour pre-op shifts and participate in orientation
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric assessment and family-centered care techniques
- Comfort with pre-op preparation, medication administration, and basic IV/vascular access
- Strong communication skills for working with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Accurate clinical documentation and efficient handoff practices
- Ability to stay calm and organized in time-sensitive perioperative settings
