Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: 4-hour pre-op shifts (exact start/end times to be scheduled; days vary) — Pre-op (Pediatrics)

Candidate Pay Rate: $46 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients, preparing them and their families for procedures
Assess patients' clinical status and complete thorough pre-op evaluations
Prepare patients physically and emotionally, including medication administration and comfort measures
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure safe handoffs
Educate families about pre-op instructions and what to expect during the procedure
Document patient care accurately and promptly in the medical record

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio (or ability to obtain prior to start)
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; PALS or pediatric certifications preferred
Experience or strong interest in pediatric pre-operative nursing
Comfortable working with children and providing family-centered care
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical setting

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
Pediatric nursing coursework or clinical experience a plus

Knowledge & Skills

Hands-on pediatric pre-op care and patient assessment
Familiarity with perioperative workflows and safety protocols
Strong patient/family education and emotional support skills
Accurate clinical documentation and time management
Teamwork and clear communication across disciplines
