Roles & Responsibilities

Provide thoughtful pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients, preparing children and families for surgery
Perform focused assessments, document findings, and communicate changes to the surgical team
Prepare the patient physically and emotionally for the OR using age-appropriate techniques
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to ensure safe handoffs
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record
Participate in orientation and training to align with facility protocols and standards

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for practice in Ohio
Experience or demonstrated competency in pre-operative nursing and working with pediatric patients
Willingness to attend required orientation prior to clinical shifts
Strong communication skills for working with children and their families
Basic life support knowledge; facility-specific certifications may be required or requested

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of pediatric assessment and preparation for surgery
Familiarity with pre-op protocols, infection prevention, and safety procedures
Ability to provide compassionate, family-centered care in a surgical setting
Accurate clinical documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
Comfort working in a fast-paced pre-op environment serving children
