Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem, 4-hour shifts (specific start/end times and days vary based on scheduling needs)

Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, compassionate pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients
Perform focused pre-op assessments and document findings clearly
Prepare patients and families by educating them about pre-op procedures and expectations
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure smooth handoffs
Ensure proper identification, consent verification, and equipment readiness prior to procedures
Advocate for each child’s comfort and safety, calming families and reducing anxiety

Qualifications

Active RN license in Washington (or compact RN eligible)
Experience or interest in pediatrics and pre-operative nursing
Current BLS required; PALS preferred or willing to obtain
Ability to complete orientation and meet facility onboarding requirements
Strong communication skills and comfort working with children and families

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication techniques
Understanding of pre-operative procedures and safety protocols
Ability to document accurately in the electronic health record
Basic IV and medication administration knowledge for pre-op settings
Team collaboration and effective handoff communication
