Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and instruments, ensuring everything is sterile and ready for each procedure
• Assist surgeons and the OR team during pediatric surgeries with precision and focus
• Maintain the sterile field and anticipate surgeon needs to keep cases efficient
• Perform instrument counts and document procedures accurately
• Participate in orientation and team huddles to promote patient safety and smooth workflows
• Communicate clearly with perioperative staff, nurses, and families as appropriate

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program, or equivalent experience
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or relevant certification preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willing to obtain
• Prior experience in an operating room setting, pediatric experience preferred
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility credentialing requirements
• Strong teamwork, attention to detail, and commitment to patient safety

Education

• Diploma or Associate degree from an accredited Surgical Technology program

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and OR protocols
• Familiarity with surgical instruments and procedural setup
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and manage instrument flow
• Strong communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
• Comfort with documentation and following hospital policies and checklists
• Adaptability in a fast paced surgical environment
