Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical/surgical unit
Perform thorough assessments, document findings, and develop nursing care plans
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate high-quality care
Monitor patient status, respond to changes, and escalate concerns appropriately
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care
Participate in unit orientation and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alabama (or eligible to obtain)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or obtainable
Experience or comfort working in a Med/Surg environment
Ability to pass required background checks and mandated screenings
Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills
Willingness to participate in orientation as required by the facility

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Solid understanding of medical/surgical nursing principles and patient assessment
Proficient medication administration and IV therapy skills
Comfortable with electronic health record documentation
Skilled in patient education, discharge planning, and care coordination
Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond calmly in busy situations
