Roles & Responsibilities

Perform focused pre-operative assessments for pediatric patients, ensuring safety and readiness for procedures
Administer and document medications and pre-op interventions as ordered
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to coordinate care
Provide clear, compassionate education and support to children and their families before procedures
Monitor and document vital signs and clinical status during the pre-op period
Ensure accurate handoff and communication to intraoperative and PACU teams

Qualifications

Active RN licensure (Washington state license preferred or eligible)
Experience or comfort working in pediatric pre-operative nursing
Current BLS certification required; PALS preferred or encouraged
Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical/pre-op setting and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric assessment and family-centered care
Pre-operative workflows and perioperative safety protocols
Medication administration and documentation best practices
Clear verbal and written communication for handoffs
Basic familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) charting
Infection control and procedural preparation
