Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile field and surgical instruments with precision
• Assist surgeons and the surgical team during procedures by anticipating needs
• Verify instrument counts and ensure surgical supplies are ready and functioning
• Follow strict infection control and sterile technique standards every time
• Communicate clearly with nurses, surgeons, and perioperative staff to keep cases running smoothly
• Participate in orientation and training to align with facility protocols and safety practices

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or applicable state credential as required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
• Familiarity with operating room etiquette, sterile technique, and instrument handling
• Professional, team-oriented attitude and strong communication skills
• Willingness to attend required orientation and follow facility policies

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of sterile technique and operating room protocols
• Proficiency with surgical instrumentation and instrument counts
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and respond quickly under pressure
• Strong teamwork and clear communication in fast-paced OR environments
• Basic familiarity with electronic health records and documentation best practices
