Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide focused post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients, ensuring a safe recovery from anesthesia
• Assess and monitor patients frequently, documenting vital signs, pain levels, and recovery milestones
• Administer medications and treatments per orders and monitor responses
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and other clinicians to deliver coordinated care
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients' families about recovery progress and care needs
• Maintain a safe, clean, and child-friendly PACU environment and follow unit protocols
• Participate in orientation and unit training to maintain high standards of pediatric perioperative care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or eligibility for Ohio RN licensure
• Experience or training in post-anesthesia care and pediatric nursing
• Comfort working per diem 4-hour shifts and attending orientation as scheduled
• Strong clinical assessment skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced PACU
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills when interacting with families and multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Nursing degree (ADN or BSN) sufficient for RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of post-anesthesia recovery protocols and pediatric assessment
• Ability to monitor and interpret vital signs and recognize early signs of complications
• Familiarity with pediatric pain management strategies and safety practices
• Competence in medication administration and documentation
• Comfort working with electronic medical record systems and accurate charting
• Strong interpersonal skills for family-centered communication
