Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to step-down unit patients
• Monitor and interpret patient telemetry and clinical data to detect changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members
• Perform thorough assessments and update care plans to reflect patient needs
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatments, and discharge plans
• Document care clearly and timely to support continuity and compliance
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and safe handoffs to other units

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Louisiana
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Experience in step-down, telemetry, or critical care settings preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and teamwork mindset
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and care teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (or equivalent nursing diploma); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and monitoring in a step-down/telemetry environment
• Familiarity with cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia recognition
• Medication administration, IV therapy, and infusion management
• Electronic medical record documentation and charting
• Prioritization and time management during high-acuity situations
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and patient education
